Coldplay confirm stadium shows in support of Music Venue Trust

Coldplay (pictured) have confirmed two UK stadium concerts in aid of the Music Venue Trust, after posters teasing shows in London and Hull first appeared in the location of an early gig in Camden.

Poised for summer next year, the posters suggested 10% of all band proceeds would go to the Music Venue Trust. The gigs are also set to be in honour of the British band’s 10th album, ‘Moon Music’.

Now, the band has confirmed there will be two shows at Hull’s Craven Park on August 18-19, as well as six dates at Wembley Stadium between August 22-31, and that there will indeed be a donation for the Music Venue Trust.

Posters advertising the band’s first gig as ‘The Coldplay’ from 1998 at the Dublin Castle in Camden, London first appeared on Sunday with handwritten notes. Now known as just Coldplay, the band posted a video on their Instagram stories showing the posters, with the notes suggesting gigs at Craven Park in Hull and London’s Wembley Stadium in August next year.

Beverley Whitlock, Music Venue Trust’s chief operating officer, shared the poster on her own social media.

Not only would the concerts be 100% powered by solar, wind and kinetic energy, but they will also support the Music Venue Trust in its mission to champion small venues and up-and-coming acts.

Exclusive first ticket access will be available to fans that order ‘Moon Music’ through the official Coldplay store, while the general sale will begin on September 27.

In June, Coldplay revealed that their Music of the Spheres world tour had witnessed a 59% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions in its first two years compared to their previous tour.
