For the first time since the beginning of Ukraine’s war with Russia in February 2022, the country’s largest music festival Atlas is set to return.
The festival welcomed around 600,000 fans at its last edition in 2021 and has previously hosted the likes of Liam Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers, Placebo, The Prodigy, and Kasabian.
Now rebranded as Atlas United, the festival is scheduled to return to Blockbuster Mall in Kyiv from July 12-14.
More than 70 Ukrainian artists have been booked to perform, as well as support from international artists who are yet to be announced.
Organisers also revealed that 15% of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Ukraine’s armed forces.
“Our goal is together with the partners of the festival to collect at least 100 million UAH (£1.95m/$2.5m/€2.3m),” read a statement from the festival.
“Part of the funds will be directed towards the purchase of robots through the fundraising platform United24, and the other – to the provision of drones of the Armed Forces, particularly in the Kharkiv direction.”
In case of an attack on the festival, an underground parking structure has been made available to shelter in following an air siren signalling any threat.
There will be at least five stages for artists to perform which are ‘Boombox’, ‘Zadan and Dogs’, ‘No Limits’, ‘The Second Year’, and ‘LatexFauna’.
“We know that music is capable not only to support morally, but also to unite for important causes,” added the festival statement.
“So, we call all festival goers to meet after a long break and help the army together.”
