Formula 1 fans will have access to more affordable tickets for this year’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.
During an earnings call for Formula 1 parent company Liberty Media, Las Vegas Grand Prix chief executive Renee Wilm said there would be a significantly higher number of general admissions tickets available.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Wilm said during the call: “We’re actually creating a brand-new general admission-only zone, which will have single-day tickets and will be at the lowest price points that you’ll see for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.”
The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix took place in November last year, and attracted attention over some of the extraordinary ticket prices.
For example, MGM Resorts, which operates destination resorts including the Bellagio in Las Vegas, offered a package worth $11,247 (£9,000/€10,000) to watch the grand prix. It included a three-day ticket and premier hospitality seating, as well as meet and greets with F1 ambassadors and an all-inclusive unlimited curated menu.
While there were reports of thousands of tickets left over in the lead up to the race weekend, more than 315,000 attended the Las Vegas Grand Prix over the four days.
The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled to take place November 21-23, and organiser also today (Tuesday) announced the timeline for ticket sales.
Tickets will go on sale to the public on March 25, while American Express card members will gain early access from March 13-15. Nevada residents will receive early access to purchase tickets from March 22-24, ahead of the public on-sale.
“We are incredibly proud of the inaugural Las Vegas race and look forward to leveraging the successes and learnings of 2023 as we evolve the race weekend for the benefit of all our stakeholders,” said Wilm. “Recognising the strong demand for a greater variety of pricing options and significantly more general admission tickets, we have prioritised the creation of new product offerings to appeal to a wider audience of our fans, such as a brand-new, dedicated general admission fan zone and a new experience on Las Vegas Boulevard in partnership with Caesars Palace. We could not be more excited for the 2024 race and look forward to sharing more on the race week programming in the coming months.”
A new ‘Flamingo’ general admission option will be available, which is a standing-room only ticket with access to viewing platforms on a first-come, first-serve basis. Practice sessions will start at $150, while a three-day ticket will cost $600 plus taxes and fees.
