Live Nation has blamed an “isolated incident” after a number of ticket-holders for pop band Westlife’s performance at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro turned up only to discover that their seats had disappeared.
The Glasgow Evening Times reported that traffic delays resulted in a number of seats failing to arrive in time at the venue ahead of the doors opening on Tuesday evening.
The ticket-holders who were affected had stage-level seating – among the most expensive seats at the concert.
Those affected were told that they would have to watch the concert from the general standing area or from seats at the back of the venue, or they could opt for a full refund. It is unclear how many ticket-holders were affected.
However, Live Nation insisted that the problem will not be repeated for the remainder of Westlife’s Twenty Tour, which will include three more shows at the SSE Hydro on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
“On Tuesday May 28 Westlife’s Twenty Tour at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro suffered seating configuration adjustments due to the delay of production elements of the Twenty Tour arriving at the arena,” Live Nation said.
“This is a rare and isolated incident. The remainder of the Twenty Tour at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro and across the UK will not be subject to any further seating issues. Westlife are committed to delivering an unmissable show for their dedicated fans.”
In a statement posted on Westlife’s official Twitter account, the band said: “Thank you for your patience Glasgow. You were an amazing crowd and we can’t wait to be back next week!”
