Live Performance Australia has appointed Eric Lassen as chief executive to lead the peak body for Australia’s live arts and entertainment industry.
Lassen was previously chief executive of PayPal Australia and senior vice-president and deputy general counsel for Live Nation Entertainment. He has also served on a number of not-for-profit boards, including as president of the Music Forward Foundation.
Lassen will take up the position in early January 2025 and succeeds outgoing chief executive Evelyn Richardson, who has served in the role for the past 18 years.
Lassen said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role and look forward to working with LPA’s executive council and team to support our members across the live arts and entertainment industry.
“Australia is home to some of the world’s best creative talent and arts and business leaders, and I’m keen to work alongside them in building and advocating for a sustainable, successful and growing industry which will excite, engage and entertain current and future generations of Australian and international audiences.”
Rosenbluth retires
Goldenvoice, the California music promoter and subsidiary of AEG Presents, has announced the retirement of senior vice-president Susan Rosenbluth.
The concert promoter’s career spans six decades, working with such artists as Elton John, Talking Heads, BTS and Van Morrison. She began her career at Los Angeles’s Greek Theatre in 1978 and managed concert presentations at the Greek Theatre, the Pantages Theatre, the Pacific Amphitheatre and the Honda Center for the Nederlander Organization before joining Goldenvoice in 2003.
“My work life has been filled with so many meaningful experiences, due to the Goldenvoice concert promotion team, artists and their crews who come together to present these events,” said Rosenbluth, “I am grateful to the people of the concert community.”
Meanwhile, Goldenvoice has appointed Lea Swanson as vice-president of talent. In this new role, Swanson will serve as sole talent buyer for the Mountain Winery, as well as contributing talent buyer for multiple venues in LA, primarily the Peacock Theater, the Shrine Auditorium, and various open rooms including the Greek Theater and Dolby Theatre.
Swanson will also book one-off shows in neighbouring California markets including Irvine, Ontario, Bakersfield and Fresno as well as Hawaii.
Bainbridge bids farewell
Australian touring and marketing pioneer Mary Bainbridge has confirmed that she will be stepping back from her full-time role at Frontier Touring at the end of the year.
Michael Gudinski’s “right-hand woman up until his passing”, Bainbridge started at the Mushroom Group in 1977, when she joined Premier Artists in 1977. She worked across numerous record-breaking Frontier tours, including Paul McCartney, The Police and Guns N Roses.
Frontier Touring chief executive Dion Brant said Bainbridge is “as legendary as the most iconic of artists that Frontier tours”.
The National Independent Talent Organization (NITO), which represents independent US music booking agents and managers, has elected a new executive board.
Wayne Forte of Entourage Talent Associates is NITO’s new president, Tom Chauncey of Partisan Arts will serve as vice-president, Matt Yasecko of Arrival Artists is the new secretary and Nelly Neben of Axis Management is treasurer. All were chosen by NITO’s board of directors to serve a one-year term.
