Katy Perry has announced that she is bringing her Lifetimes Tour to the UK in October next year, and will be donating £1 from each ticket sold to the Music Venue Trust in support of grassroots venues.
The career-spanning Lifetimes Tour will see Perry perform her greatest hits in Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and London. The news of the UK leg follows the announcement of additional shows in Australia due to demand for tickets, with the original dates in June selling out. A further three shows were also announced for Mexico in April after the first three sold out within an hour.
It will be the first time Perry has toured in the UK in seven years.
Perry played her first UK show at the 200-capacity Water Rats in Kings Cross in 2008 and at London’s 1,145-capacity Scala later that year. Every £1 donated to the scheme will go towards supporting grassroots music venues in the UK, much like Water Rats and Scala.
“I’m proud to donate £1 from every ticket on the UK leg of The Lifetimes Tour to Music Venue Trust so that venues like Water Rats and Scala, where I played my first UK shows, can continue to usher in the next generation of music talent,” said Perry.
Mark Davyd, chief executive of Music Venue Trust, added: “We want to say a huge thank you to Katy and her team for stepping up to support grassroots music venues, artists and promoters. The contribution from these shows will keep venues open, get new and emerging artists out on tour, and enable promoters to bring the best in new music to our communities.”
Perry joins the likes of Coldplay and Sam Fender in supporting the Music Venue Trust.
The Lifetimes Tour will head to Glasgow’s Ovo Hydro on October 7; Manchester’s AO Arena on October 8; Utilita Arena Sheffield on October 10; Utilita Arena Birmingham on October 11; before finishing in London on October 13 at The O2.
