Organisers of Boardmasters, a live music and surfing festival that takes place in the Cornish town of Newquay in the UK, have said that there will be extra security measures implemented for the 2025 edition.

The news follows a crowd surge at this year’s event, which saw seven people taken to hospital.

Boardmasters said in a post on Facebook that there will be a 20% increase in security, which will be deployed to crowd and behaviour management positions. There will also be an increase in the number of Wi-Fi hot spot zones to contact other guests and get help if needed, as well as designated phone lines for free outgoing calls.

There will also be a further 25 entry search lanes in place, allowing for deeper searches without increasing wait times.

Additionally, there will be 25% more watchtowers manned 24 hours a day, and a 50% increase in high-visibility security patrols.

Changes have also been made on the camping side of things, with a dedicated chill zone featuring an 11pm noise curfew and double the number of elevated watchtower locations. There will also be a 24 hour security presence.

Following feedback from attendees, 2025’s event will see an increase from 85 to 119 long distance bus routes, as well as 50 coaches serving the park and ride facilities.

“Since August, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to reflect and review, listening to all of your feedback along the way. Your honest thoughts are invaluable and help us to make the Boardmasters experience better each and every year,” organisers said in a statement.

Boardmasters will return from August 6-10, 2025.
