Sam Fender is set to donate £1 (€1.20/$1.30) from each ticket sale for his upcoming tour to the Music Venue Trust (MVT).
The British artist announced a string of dates across the UK and Europe as part of the ‘People Watching’ tour. Fender will perform across December at 3Arena in Dublin, First Direct Arena in Leeds, Co-op Live in Manchester, London’s The O2, Birmingham’s Utilita Arena and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro before heading over to Europe in March next year.
Presales began today (Tuesday), with fans given access for pre-ordering Fender’s new album or signing up before the cut-off.
A ballot was put in place for the show at Utilita Arena in Newcastle, Fender’s home performance.
Fender joins the likes of Coldplay and Enter Shikari in donating £1 for every ticket sold to MVT.
“Another huge arena artist is joining the likes of Coldplay and Enter Shikari in proving that artists themselves want to protect the live music ecosystem where their careers started,” said MVT in a post on Instagram.
“We still get people in the comments saying this can’t be done, and every time another act like Sam Fender and his team step up, we have to remind the nay-sayers that, yes it can! Our mission to bring in a grassroots ticket contribution on massive tours has taken another big step forward. Thank you to everyone involved.”
The general sale for the tour will begin on Friday (October 25).
