Tech Stack: Eventbrite overhauls service with free offering

Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

Eventbrite has announced plans to offer unlimited event publishing and promotion at no cost in a major overhaul of its service.

The change gives users full access to Eventbrite’s entire suite of ticketing and marketing resources. This includes tools for creating, managing, and tracking social ads and email campaigns, plus the ability to send hundreds of marketing emails daily to effectively reach audiences at no cost.

While use of the suite is free, Eventbrite confirmed that ticketing fees will still apply. “Organisers can choose to cover these fees themselves or pass them on to attendees,” it added.

The company, which has seen its share price tumble in recent years, has also transformed its Pro Plan into an email marketing subscription, designed to reach more potential attendees. The plan removes event capacity limits and lowers subscription fees, giving organisers the option to send additional marketing emails.

Eventbrite will also launch new tools for timed ticket and capacity management designed to simplify event entry and make managing crowds easier. Launching soon for US organisers and gradually expanding to international markets, this customisable tool has been developed for events such as tours, excursions and classes.
