SeatGeek has introduced a new ticket-sharing feature called Parties that aims to allow fans to invite, share, and manage tickets as a group.
It is inspired by apps like Airbnb and Resy, and offers a way for ticket-holders to send event invites to a group while still maintaining control of all the tickets.
The ticketing marketplace said the feature sets a new standard for group attendance and sales.
“Fan data is just data unless you make it easy for clients to actually use it,” said SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza.
“Parties, along with our fan experience platform, Rally, is part of our larger vision to make the ticket more than just a ticket.
“By improving how we use data, we empower venues and teams with the ability to personalize the event experience, refine their marketing efforts and build lasting fan loyalty.”
With Parties, hosts can send an invite via a link to a group which enables invited guests to claim their ticket.
The host maintains ownership of the ticket and if a guest can no longer attend, the host can reassign their pass to someone else.
This is designed to ensure ticket security and provide SeatGeek partners with the ability to provide fans with a more personalised event experience.
The innovation comes as a result of COVID-19.
“After the pandemic supercharged mobile ticketing adoption, search interest in ‘how to transfer tickets’ greatly increased over time,” read a SeatGeek statement.
“Parties not only helps improve the group transfer process for fans but also provides venues and teams with insights into event attendance.
“SeatGeek’s research found that venues have visibility into only about 40% of attendees.
“By leveraging the data provided through Parties, venues and teams can maximize fan experiences, optimize marketing strategies, and drive revenue growth with tailored promotions and gameday upgrades.”
