The Paris 2024 Olympic Games have resulted in a 13% increase in foreign tourism compared to last year in the French capital.
France is the number one most visited country in the world and Paris comes in third for the most travelled city.
A total of 3.1 million tourist arrivals were recorded during the Olympic fortnight, which also included an increase of 27% for French visitors.
Of the international tourists, 13.5% were from the US, marking an increase of more than one-fifth.
Paris also saw many more visitors from Germany, the UK, and Brazil with 130,000, 115,000, and 107,000 respectively.
Japan marked the country with the biggest increase as tourism numbers shot up by 94% with 47,000 people registered.
Many visitors booked hotel accommodation as the occupancy rates in Paris were up by 84%, a 10% increase on last year.
Length of stay in the capital was also on the rise with a one-night average increase to 2.1 for French visitors, while foreigners stayed for 2.9 nights compared to 2.5 in 2023.
Despite receiving some criticism, the unusual Opening Ceremony which predominantly took place on the River Seine attracted nearly 360,000 people.
There were around 358,500 tourists and day-trippers counted on July 26 between 18:00 and midnight in the area.
