LIV Golf recorded its highest-ever attendance since its inception in 2022, with Adelaide attracting more than 94,000 fans to The Grange Golf Club across three days.
It is the second time the 54-hole tournament has featured in Adelaide, and will next head to Singapore’s Sentosa Golf Club this weekend.
Liv Golf revealed that over 40% of ticket-buyers were from outside of the state of South Australia, with tickets also purchased by fans from more than 30 different countries.
“I am extremely proud. In our league’s short history, LIV Golf Adelaide has become a can’t-miss event on Australia’s calendar of major international sporting events and this week, we raised the bar once again,” said LIV Golf commissioner and chief executive Greg Norman.
“I want to thank the Australian fans and those who travelled from afar to be in Adelaide. For decades, I was blessed to play in front of so many who supported Australian golf and now, by bringing LIV Golf to Australia, the country has clearly embraced our league and what it represents: team golf – a new and needed product that is delivering for the sport’s future. Thank you, Adelaide, Australia, and all those who played a part in this tremendous week. See you all next year.”
LIV Golf had announced in 2022 that Adelaide would be added to the calendar for 2023, prompting fans to snap up over 35,000 tickets; over 25,000 of which were purchased in the first 48 hours.
Adelaide’s eventual crowd went on to reach roughly 77,000, a record attendance before this year’s event eclipsed the total. Organisers were forced to release additional tickets for the 2024 edition in the lead up to the tournament due to the demand.
