Fintech company Afterpay has partnered with a number of designers ahead of New York Fashion Week to offer limited edition NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that will provide access to the event.
Through a partnership with agency IMG, Afterpay will work with notable designers such as ALTU by Joseph Altuzarra, AnOnlyChild, Jonathan Simkhai, Kim Shui and The Blonds, to offer limited NFTs for customers to mint.
Each designer NFT is a one-of-a-kind collectible that will serve as both a digital object welcoming fashion enthusiasts into the world of blockchain, as well as a physical ticket to New York Fashion Week. The NFT Keys will sell for $100 (£85/€100) and Afterpay will allow all consumers to purchase the NFTs with the option to split payment into four interest-free installments.
The New York Fashion Week digital collectibles will give owners a piece of art inspired by the designer, alongside physical limited edition products and entry. ALTU by Joseph Altuzarra has designed a special edition logo tote and oversized t-shirt but is also offering the choice of an annual membership to a New York art museum.
AnOnlyChild’s NFT will also include an exclusive invite to AnOnlyChild New York Fashion Week after-party or a limited edition belt bag, while Jonathan Simkhai is offering a private meet-and-greet shopping experience or signed runway sketches.
Kim Shui’s NFT will include a custom designed hoodie or tickets to her runway show on September 12, while The Blonds will offer an invite to their after party or a signed copy of ‘The Blonds: Glamour, Fashion, Fantasy’ book when it is released.
The proceeds from the sale of the designer NFT Kets will be donated to Free Arts NYC, which allows children access to art and mentoring programmes in underserved communities in New York.
Afterpay is also set to issue its first free NFT which will unlock experiences and utilities such as an invitation to RSVP to NYFW: The Talks sessions.
The designer NFT Keys and free Afterpay NFT will be hosted on the Polygon network and are available now.
New York Fashion Week will take place September 9-14.
