Tickets are now on sale for this month’s UEFA Super Cup in what will be football’s biggest attended game in six months.
The showpiece will take place at Budapest’s 38,000-seat Puskas Arena with a reduced capacity of up to 30 per cent of the stadium – around 11,500.
UEFA said the game between Bayern Munich and Sevilla in Hungary on September 24 “will serve as a pilot to bring fans back to stadiums in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation”.
European football’s governing body has made 3,000 tickets available for fans of both Champions League winners Bayern Munich and Sevilla, who won the Europa League. Some 500 tickets will be offered to Hungarian health workers as part of UEFA’s ‘Thank You’ campaign, which recognises the efforts of doctors, nurses and others during the pandemic.
For the general public, seats will be on sale directly from UEFA at prices ranging from €30 for category 3 to €120 for category 1.
Ticket holders from overseas may undergo an obligatory medical examination on entering Hungary. They will also be required to present their official match ticket and proof of a negative SARS-CoV19 PCR test which must have been performed within the three days before their entry into Hungary.
Ticket holders entering Hungary for the UEFA Super Cup are obliged to leave the territory of Hungary within 72 hours after their entry.
Fans will undergo a body temperature check on entry to the stadium, with anyone presenting a temperature of 37.8°C to be turned away.
Fans have must keep a distance of 1.5m from other spectators and wear a mask at all times covering their nose and mouth within the whole stadium perimeter.
This year’s Super Cup was meant to be played in Porto, Portugal, however the venue was switched to Budapest in June. Fans have been allowed to attend games in Hungary since May, with almost 16,000 fans watching the game between Ferencvaros and Ujpest in June.
