Representatives from Ticketmaster, StubHub and AXS are to give evidence at the U.S Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on the live event ticketing industry on Wednesday.
The hearing, which has been named ‘In the Dark: Lack of Transparency in the Live Event Ticketing Industry,’ has been announced following a bipartisan investigation late last year into practices in the industry.
Witnesses include Amy Howe, the president and chief operating officer of Ticketmaster, Bryan Perez, the chief executive at AXS, and Stephanie Burns, the vice-president and general counsel at StubHub. Other industry executives that have been invited to the hearing are Ryan Fitts, the vice-president of legal affairs at Vivid Seats, Don Vaccaro, the co-founder and chief executive at TicketNetwork and Joe Choti, the president and chief executive at Tickets.com.
The probe, which was announced in November, has looked into those practices “which have been documented in consumer complaints, press stories, and government reports.”
The committee’s concerns surrounding resale include the sale of speculative tickets, as well as deceptive third-party websites, while its primary market issues include the disclosure of available inventory and a lack of transparency about availability.
The hearing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 26 at 3pm UK time. It can be streamed live via this YouTube link.
